British photographer Vincent St. Lawrence Haslam commissioned this oil painting. His life-long friend, Commander Keith Simmons, R.N. (Rtd.) was a member of the Corps of Queen's Messengers. My interpretation is somewhat different to the painting by Richard Beavis. I have painted an after-blizzard scene as opposed to a storm scene in the original. The Beavis horse was black.
